Mixed-Gender Sports Regulations (May 7, 2024)

COSBM led the opposition to new regulations concerning mixed-gender sports. Thanks to these efforts, the regulation has been tabled for further discussion. We will continue to work closely with stakeholders to ensure that decisions reflect the values and concerns of local communities. Click here to read our letter.

Legislative Breakfast (April 13, 2024)

COSBM hosted a successful legislative breakfast with elected officials from both parties. This event reinforced our commitment to keeping lines of communication open with legislators and ensuring that local control remains a priority in school governance.

Opposing Faith-Based Housing (April 8, 2024)

In collaboration with Assemblyman Jake Blumencranz, COSBM participated in a Zoom call to oppose the development of faith-based housing. We continue to fight for local control over housing decisions that directly impact schools and communities. A press conference was held at Herricks UFSD with elected officials to bring attention to this issue.

Opposing Accessory Dwelling Units (April 10, 2023)

COSBM members spoke at Herricks School District to oppose the implementation of accessory dwelling units (ADUs).

Zero-Emission Bus Mandates (February 5, 2023)

COSBM is working with Senator Steve Rhoades to oppose the zero-emission bus mandates. While we support environmentally friendly initiatives, we believe that the mandate to be fully electric by 2035 poses significant challenges for local districts. We advocate for a more balanced approach that allows flexibility and takes into consideration the financial and logistical needs of each community.
